Black garlic is a dark and intriguing new product for the bold and for those who love to explore new taste experiences. Its unique flavor rewards the taster with a soft texture, deep black color, and an aroma that enhances the natural taste of ingredients—making good food even better. Black garlic is made by slowly aging regular garlic at a low temperature under carefully controlled humidity for several weeks. During this process, amino acids and reducing sugars react, giving black garlic its caramel-like aroma and dark color. As it transforms, black garlic reveals its true essence: a gentle sweetness and a rich umami flavor familiar from Asian cuisine. At the same time, the sharp smell and taste typical of fresh garlic disappear completely.

At Rantakivi Foods christmas cottage, you’ll find dandelion oil and dandelion pesto — also available in gift packages! Dandelion products have been developed at Rantakivi Foods in Punkaharju for years, and customers have received them wonderfully well. These vegan, lactose-free, and gluten-free products bring delightful flavor experiences to many recipes. The dandelions are hand-picked from the clean natural surroundings of Kerimäki and Punkaharju. The products carry the Destination of Origin Saimaa Finland origin and quality label.

At the Christmas Market, the Taste Savo shop is operated by Ravintolamestarit. Its CEO, Eeva Mertanen—also the region’s official food ambassador—is a passionate advocate for local food.

The company was established to bring the healthiest, pure, ecological, and completely domestic local food to the market, suitable for everyone. Ahontuvan Tarhat
Ahontuvan Tarhat is a small rural company that produces honey and creates all kinds of goodies from it. In the rural landscapes of Central Finland and near the pine forests, they produce top-quality honey. Dedicated to nature’s most delicious creation and combining domestic flavors with meticulous attention, beekeeper Antti transforms bees’ gold into pure taste delights. At the Christmas market, Ahontuvan Tarhat will sell honey and special beekeeping products, jellies made with honey, and berry & honey products.

Natural products by Hujanen are authentically finnish! Tasty honey is from the forests of Savonia. Jam made from arctic raspberries has become a hit product at the Christmas market. After all you can’t find this delicacy from that many places. This company also sells mustard and many kinds of berry juices.
